Australia to be represented by Isaiah Firebrace!

Only moments ago, the Australian Eurovision act for 2017 was revealed by the Australian broadcaster SBS. For months, rumours have been flying around, and the betting odds changed constantly, however recently, all signs pointed to Isaiah Firebrace, the most recent winner of the X Factor here in Australia. With Anja Nissen booked in by Denmark and Isaiah showing keen interest in the contest, he has now officially be announced as the lucky artist travelling to Kyiv in May.

In the last few weeks, a number of signs pointed to Firebrace, including photos of him in the studio recording, along with him suddenly following SBS Eurovision and the head of SBS Michael Ebeid on Twitter. This, plus his open interest in participating has all added up, and the lucky 17 year old will be competing against the other 42 nations.

The song that Isaiah Firebrace will be singing is titled Don’t Come Easy and has been performed in an intimate concert in Melbourne, and it will be the third official competing act that Australia has sent to Eurovision.

More about Isaiah! The young talent came to the attention of the public last year on the popular TV program X Factor where he won the series. His debut song It’s Gotta Be You is already platinum in Sweden, and charting all over the world. His Eurovision song was written by DNA, who were also the writers of Sound of Silence.

Isaiah has commented on his upcoming gig, saying ‘I’m so proud to be representing Australia as our entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Even though it has been a dream of mine, never did I think for one minute it would be a possibility. To be able to share this news with my family and friends is unbelievable. I can’t wait to go to the Ukraine to perform ‘Don’t Come Easy’.  I will make Australia proud. Thank you to SBS and my label Sony for believing in me and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.’
